Aberlady is beautiful! It's funny -- I have that book but never noticed the design.

Good luck with the showing this weekend. We keep toying with the idea of selling and moving, but the thought of actually trying to sell the place is always so daunting. It'd be awesome to have it all said and done so quickly :)

Loved that flash from the past...Spinning Song...Michael Aaron, was it? I can probably still play it. I'm impressed with the spindle results #2. Getting mine this weekend. Crossing fingers on a quick, painless house sale.

I did a little exploration of spinning songs some time ago -

Also, have you heard Schubert's "Gretchen am spinnrade" (Gretchen at the spinning wheel)? It has the same rolling up and down movement like a wheel spinning. You can here a sample here:

Wow! That was a whack from the past. Every time I hit a wrong note while playing it, my mother whacked me.

That color naming thing is tricky. I definitely wouldn't call that tan though...It's be AMAZING in that pattern! Your spinning looks great to me. It has character :)

I LOVED learning how to play that song on piano. Good luck on the house sale, and your move, and your new job. Wow....a lot of exciting stuff going on in your life right now.

ok - now I'm going to have to dig out my old piano books and give that one a try again... it's been ages and ages since I played that one. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Best of luck with the move and new job and all - hope it doesn't put too much of a crimp in your knitting time.
